About me

On this page you can find some relevant information on my life as a free lance photographer.

I was born in the Netherlands on May 30th of the year 1963, in a little village called Zoetermeer, however, I grew up though in a small town called Bussum, in the vicinity of Amsterdam. 

I have been interested in photography since childhood, and at the age of 16, I bought my first SLR camera of the brand Praktica. It served me to learn the very basics of SLR photography.

At the age of 20, I spent some time in the emirate of Bahrein in the Persian Gulf, and that is where I bought a Nikon FG, which I still use. Little by little I acquired more lenses and accesories in response to my increasing demands.  Now I use different Nikon bodies and lenses, and a top end digital compact camera.

In the year 1990 I left the Netherlands and went to live in Spain. I got to know Madrid very well, but after 4 years, I swapped it for Barcelona, which is the place I still live, and (at least for the moment) plan to stay.

Especially during the second half of the nineties, I spent (both money and time) on travelling, and this has permitted me to create an important stock of images of many countries  (let's check that by continents) :

AFRICA & MIDDLE EAST

Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Ethiopia.

AMERICAS

Belize and Mexico.

ASIA

China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand.

EUROPE

Austria,  Spain and Portugal (including Azores).

OCEANIA

Australia (Western Australia).

I have been winner and/or finalist in various international photocontests: Rutas del Mundo, Phototrust, BetterPhoto, El Mar y la Mina, just to name a few.

Inspite of the relative success of these contests, I have been conscious that the world of photography is enormous, so I decided I should know more.  

Currently I am finishing a course of the NYIP : the New York Institute of Photography, who, by the way, recognised the quality of my work through a special Award of Merit.  You can check it in this link.

Since the end of 2001, I have been co-laborating with the Australian agency Ozimages International, which has permitted me to publish some of my images.  You can view my gallery at Ozimages through this  link

I also contribute to other agencies like photographersdirect.com and Photo Japan Stock (see linkpage).

Currently I am working on various projects which I hope will be published soon in the major (spanish)  magazines. As soon as that happens, you¡ll be able to read about it in the News page.

And that is all?  NO, definitely not!  I recently purchased this marvel of digital technology, and you can find the results in these galleries: Zoo animals , Barcelona 2 and Visa pour l'Image.
