HOW TO MODIFY THE AXLE OF A ROTARY SWITCH (by Pedro Bibiloni).

We are going to modify the axle of a 12 positions rotary switch to build concentric elements or to include a button in the center of the switch.

As we did in the case of the simulated encoder, we take the switch into parts:

We cut the axle piece and drill a 6 mm. hole just in the center of it:

We place the new axle: a 6 mm. diameter aluminium pipe. The pipe lenght depends on our purpouses and once mounted must to touch the back piece (the white one) to avoid longitudinal movements:

A inner axle is going to pass through this switch so we need to drill a 5 mm. hole in the botton body as shown in the picture.

We are ready now to assembly all the parts. We cut the spring in three parts (we will use only two). Be careful with the small parts as balls and springs. Test the correct switch operation. If you think the strenght is not the correct one, cut or strengh the springs a little more.
