There's a brief interview with Brett on this month's Q Magazine (thaks to 2-J):
According to Brett, "I approached Leo Abrahams because I liked his solo records and because he had done a lot of interesting soundtrack work. I had a vague idea that the album should have a cinematic, less song-based feel but I think the original idea has mutated and become something else together. Some songs are strange and meandering, some are simple and miniature and most have quite complex arrangements inspired by the work of Mark Hollis".
Song titles include "The Swans", "Pretty Windows" and "Scarecrows and Lillacs.
7th may, 2009
Brett Anderson announcement on his official forum:
"The album is finished and the title is Slow Attack. As yet unsequenced and un-mixed ,it will probably contain up to 12 completely new tracks mainly written by Leo (Abrahams) and myself. Heavily featuring woodwind, it is fuller, stranger and more complex than the last two solo albums and influenced by Leo's command of atmospherics and his classical training. The decision to use woodwind as a primary colour on our palette of sound was inspired by the work of Mark Hollis, an artist whose constant devellopment and distorsion of the pop model we both found fascinating. However, don't expect the record to sound like Talk Talk or anything else for that matter... we have carved these influences into our own shape and the outcome is a record which to me sounds like nothing i have ever done before. It goes without saying that i am immensely proud of this body of work and extremely excited for the world to hear it.
I anticipate that it will be released in autumn this year but you'll forgive me if at this stage i cannot be more specific. Of course live shows will follow, the format of which i have yet to decide. One thing is certain though, they will be different from those on the Wilderness tour."
22nd april, 2009
Brett Anderson & Leo Abrahams are entering the studio today to record the new album.
Leo Abrahams has posted this on his website:
"The Brett Anderson project has been coming along well. During the writing process we’ve managed to get quite a bit of the recording done too. There’s an integrity to the the feeling of very early performances that can be hard to recapture. In some cases we’ll be able to use the first time I played the song, and the first vocal. There are lots of classical arrangements, which I still prefer to do on paper than on computer. Somehow it makes me consider each player more, as well as encouraging a more detailed use of dynamics. Copying out all the individual parts is a bit of a chore, but it’s also strangely meditative and satisfying."
16th april, 2009
Brett Anderson has announced two full electric shows in South America for June. The two lucky cities are Lima (Perú) and Santiago (Chile). It's also confirmed that no other Suede members will be in the line up.

Brett has revealed at his official forum he's working with musician/producer Leo Abrahams on the next record:
"We have written a whole bundle of stuff already and the chemistry seems to be fizzing away nicely. what does it sound like?.. well nothing like Wilderness, or like the first record for that matter... I guess if there's one musical theme that unites the songs it's a sense of atmosphere. Leo has a worked a lot on film soundtracks and it was that kind of mood that i was hoping to evoke when i approached him to work with me. the sound is forming slowly and shaping up to be a lot fuller than the last record but nevertheless laced with moments of stillness and calm .we are using less piano and strings and more woodwind and guitar.there are meandering instrumental passages and musical places i wouldn't normally be able to visit if i was working completely on my own.i suppose lyrically the songs are less romantic and more veiled than the last couple of records. i've been thinking a lot about that Francis Bacon quote about it being the artist's job to deepen the mystery. this time i want to hint at things rather than exhaustively detail them, create fragmants for people to guess at.
i would love to release the record this year and that is my vague plan but it at the moment all i can say is that it will be finished when it's ready."
20th january, 2009

Brett has left a message at the official forum telling that 2008 has been a wonderful year for him but now "it's time to turn the page and look for another path". He's working on the idea that the next album will not be under his name and wants to release an album every year. The way he recorded 'Wilderness' (almost live and just in a few days) was so inspiring for him and wants to continue working this way.
